Infrastructure & Urban Development
Beyond the Berbera Port expansion, Somaliland is executing a multi-billion dollar overhaul of its domestic infrastructure to support rapid urbanization and foreign investment. The cornerstone of this initiative is the Berbera Corridor, a 250-kilometer dual-carriageway linking the coastal economic zones directly to the Ethiopian border at Tog-Wajaale, dramatically reducing land freight times.
Aviation infrastructure is concurrently being modernized. Egal International Airport (HGA) in Hargeisa has undergone extensive runway expansions and terminal upgrades to accommodate increased wide-body cargo and passenger traffic from global hubs like Dubai, Addis Ababa, and soon, direct European corridors.
Domestically, the government has successfully executed the Erigavo Road Project—a monumental feat of indigenous engineering that carved a vital supply chain route through the rugged Cal Madow mountain range, connecting previously isolated agricultural highlands to the capital markets.
